Transformed with skill by the creative team, folklore continues to sound relevant and exciting with its deep messages and vitality.
In both parts of the performance “Staro imane” “Pirin” Ensemble transforms the heritage of traditional folklore into influential contemporary art.
The first part, “Ot muka ide tvoito ime” (Out of grief comes your name), unfolds the emotional atmosphere of the songs and dances dedicated to the liberation struggles in the southwestern Bulgarian lands.
The second part, “Bread, Salt and Wine”, focuses on the reproduction of folklore samples from the entire ethnic territory of Bulgaria, which intertwine rituals and mythology, work and gaiety.
